WHY?

DNA

It is because of the sugar each contains, the ribose sugar in rna is too reactive and not stable in a region of high pH

DNA is a better storehouse for genetic information than RNA because it has more stable molecules than RNA due to deoxyribose sugar which helps in the accurate pass of genetic material from generation to generation.

DNA molecules are more stable than RNA molecule for storing genetic information.. Examining the structure of DNA,there’s an absence of an oxygen and hydrogen molecule in the sugar, but I’m RNA in which this are present, makes the RNA prone to multiple hydrolysis..DNA at also double stranded, making genetic information stored to be safe from mutagens, RNA is single stranded which predisposes the genetic information to risk of being mutated.. DNA molecules can sense a mistake in the base pairing sequence in a template strand, and correct it following the pattern of arrangements in the parent strand..

With the exception of certain viruses, DNA rather than RNA carries the hereditary genetic code in all biological life on Earth. DNA is both more resilient and more easily repaired than RNA. As a result, DNA serves as a more stable carrier of the genetic information that is essential to survival and reproduction.DNA stores genetic info due to its deoxyribose sugar, which contains one less oxygen-containing hydroxyl group, DNA is a more stable molecule than RNA, which is useful for a molecule which has the task of keeping genetic information safe. RNA, containing a ribose sugar, is more reactive than DNA and is not stable in alkaline conditions.
The main role of DNA in the cell is the long-term storage of information. … This backbone carries four types of molecules called bases and it is the sequence of these four bases that encodes information. The major function of DNA is to encode the sequence of amino acid residues in proteins, using the genetic code.

Base stacking is one of the factors that makes the DNA more stable that the RNA
The absence of a reactive hydroxyl group at the 2′ also makes the DNA more stable and less susceptible to hydrolysis , then the hydrogen bonds, normally hydrogen bonds are not really strong but because we have a so many bases that needs to be bonded together (base complementality) hydrogen bonds connect the two strands of the helix. There are 3 Hydrogen bonds between Guanine and Cytosine and 2 hydrogen bond between Adenine and Thymine. As well as this there are hydrogen bonds between the bases and surrounding water molecules, and this combined with the even stronger phosphodiester bonds in the sugar phosphate backbone make DNA very stable.

DNA and RNA are both essential biological molecules. They contain sugars, phosphates and bases. But there exist key differences between them. One of which is that DNA houses genetic information that codes for traits whereas, RNA does not. This is because the ribose sugar present in RNA has an hydroxyl group in its pentose ring which is susceptible to hydrolysis, making RNA less stable. DNA instead, is flexible and easily repaired than RNA.
So DNA stores this information, while RNA decodes it and use it in building proteins. This protein-building process is multi-step and there are specialized RNAs for each of these steps.
