Everyone stood around the village square visibly worried. Grandma was crying, praying and yelling as we were actually waiting for some miracle that could probably change the whole situation. Uncle Biodun has been stuck inside the vagina of one of his concubines. I couldn’t help but notice the look of discomfort of his wife who was at the scene. Her husband was the true definition of a dog.
Immediately Ieft the village for lagos some days later, I conducted a lot of research about what I had saw. Uncle Biodun had experienced a condition called Penis Captivus- it is the occurrence of muscle clamping of the vagina around the Penis making withdrawal of the penis a very difficult task.
Are there Africa Traditional beliefs about this?
I was made to believe he had been under the influence of some local charm popularly known as Magun in Yoruba land – a substance used to induce sexual abnormalities during sex escapades especially when the relationship is illicit. We were made to understand by the native doctors that his concubine’s husband had used a special stick that required his wife to cross it to activate the charm on her. He has been trying to nail Uncle Biodun for about a year until his luck ran out.
They were caught in a cheap motel somewhere in the village after they had been followed by some of the village informants hired by husband of the concubine. The whole drama in the village kindled my interest in trying to uncover if there was any medical explanation for the condition or not.
What is Penis Captivus – To be stuck inside the Vagina
According to Wikipedia, Penis captivus is an occurrence during sexual intercourse when the muscles in the vagina clamp down on the penis much more firmly than usual, making it impossible for the penis to be withdrawn from the vagina.
Leading Ugandan sex counsellor Dr Hilary Bainemigisha further explained how this is interpreted by the brain as a new experience or an abnormal situation which affects the psych. The psych causes fear in the women when at the peak of their orgasms which slightly makes the vagina muscle hold the penis for some seconds. The fear progresses which progressively continues to increase the tension around the vagina muscle thereby holding the penis. This lasts for about ten to fifteen seconds which should be no cause for alarm in a normal situation.
Could being stuck inside the Vagina be a result of illicit relationships?
The fear of being unable to withdraw by the male especially when the relationship is illicit instills fear in the parties which further increases blood flow towards their genitals; increased blood inflow prevents relaxation of genitals and therefore withdrawal could never be achieved. This could last for several hours especially when subject to shame by the society which is mostly the case – abuse, insults, videoing etc, further affects the emotional balance of the parties involved.
Ignorance on the part of the society has made the exploitation of the party involved quite easy. I could remember Uncle Biodun was told to pay a sum of one-hundred and fifty thousand naira before he could be saved by the native doctors. I knew he was ready to pay more if he had been asked under that painful condition of being stuck inside the vagina.
The native doctors were only able to calm this party into believing they were being ‘cured’. The thought of being cured actually made them feel relaxed which eased their withdrawal – I couldn’t understand if they were cured genuinely because no one was allowed in by the native doctors. I could only notice the look of satisfaction on the face of the husband of uncle Biodun’s concubine.
How to manage being stuck inside the Vagina
Penis Captivus is a rare medical condition and most people have subjected the condition to being associated with guilt of having illicit relationships. In recent times it has been documented to occur in countries like Kenya, Malawi, Uganda , Nigeria, Zimbabwe and several other African countries. However, being stuck inside the vagina can be adequately managed medically in case of occurrence. The first step is to stay calm and taking one’s mind away from the situation. The use of laxatives could help relax the nerves and calling for immediate medical attention could save one from the whole shame that comes with it.
Trying to convince my Grandma that Penis Captivus – being stuck inside the vagina could be a normal medical condition has been a huge task since she’s still of the school of thought that there are several spiritual angles we are unaware of in the medical world.
Meanwhile his wife seem not to be bothered about the whole experience. She’s simply happy her husband has learnt an unforgettable lesson from the whole experience- Uncle Biodun is now a changed man.
